Myth # 1: Only one person deciding not to eat meat in the future will not work wonders. There are many people around the world who are still eating and relishing meat at this time.

Answer: Your efforts may look like a drop in the ocean but every drop counts. For the sake of the planet we will have to reduce the consumption of non-vegetarian food.

One kg of meat is equivalent to the meals of 400 people. If only 10% of the world’s population become vegetarians, the threat of higher world temperatures and hence global warming or Greenhouse Effect would be vastly diminished. The methane gas that is produced in the slaughter houses is so much responsible for global warming.

Three times more fossil fuels must be burned to produce a meat-centered diet than for a meat-free diet. It takes nearly 78 calories of fossil fuel (oil, natural gas, etc.) energy to produce one calorie of beef protein and only 2 calories of fossil fuel energy to produce one calorie of soybean.

If every human ate a meat-centered diet, the world’s known oil reserves would last a mere 13 years. They would last 260 years if humans stopped eating meat altogether. That is 20 times longer, giving humanity ample time to develop alternative energy sources.

Scientists like Albert Einstein were vegetarian. For a healthy body and lightness in mind, vegetarian diet is the best.

According to Mansahara Parihasajalpita Stotram, “Those who eat the flesh of other creatures are nothing less than gristle-grinders, blood-drinkers, muscle-munchers, sinew-chewers, carcass-crunchers, and flesh-feeders. They make their throat a garbage pit and their stomach a graveyard.

Jesus Christ said, “For I tell you truly, he who kills, kills himself and he who eats the flesh of slain beast eats the body of death for in his blood, every drop of their blood comes to poison.” (Jesus Christ PP 44-45)

Myth # 2: Meat eating is good for those who keep their lifestyle active (do exercises, etc.), as they are able to digest it and thus stay away from likely diseases.

Answer: Even if you keep your active lifestyle, meat eating is not good. This is because our body is made for a vegetarian diet. Every sign of human physiology is made for a vegetarian diet.

  • We have a substance called ptyalin in our saliva. Ptyalin is a protein that breaks down the insoluble starch found in foods into smaller, soluble sugar fragments. It helps in the digestion and is only present in the herbivorous animals. We don’t find that in lions, wolves, or tigers. In the absence of ptyalin, carnivorous animals cannot predigest starches.Non-veg-Action Wanted
  • Herbivorous animals have long intestine, we too have a long intestine. Lions don’t have that, dogs don’t have that.
  • We don’t have the type of teeth which carnivorous animals have. Carnivorous have long teeth and claws for holding and killing prey; vegetarian animals have short teeth and no claws. We have the same type of teeth like monkeys, our immediate ancestors, cows, and elephants (the teeth inside the mouth of an elephant are like ours).
  • Carnivorous do not sweat through their skin; body heat is controlled by rapid breathing and extrusion of the tongue. Vegetarian animals, on the other hand, have sweat pores for heat control and the elimination of impurities.
  • Flesh-eating animals secrete large quantities of hydrochloric acid to help dissolve bones; vegetarian animals secrete little hydrochloric acid.
  • The jaws of carnivorous only open in an up and down motion; those of vegetarian animals also move sideways for additional kinds of chewing.
  • Carnivorous must lap liquids (like a cat); vegetarian animals take liquids in by suction through the teeth.

 

Myth # 3: Meat is tasty and you can’t live without it (eat almost twice weekly)

Answer: A veggie burger is equally tasty and similar in protein content to a hamburger. But the veggie burger has a third as much fat and contains zero cholesterol, fewer calories, and more fiber. Yogurts are delicious and full of healthy probiotics.

You can similarly try homemade vegetable or bean soups, pizza with soy cheese and mock sausage, burrito, spaghetti, muffin, pasta w/ tomato sauce, oatmeal w/ fruit, cereal w/ fruit, salad w/ tofu + nuts, and fruit smoothie.

 

Myth # 4: If I stop eating meat, I will feel weak. Meat gives us rich dietary fiber that no other food can give and is thus good for our body.

Answer: It is just an incorrect notion in the mind. According to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, “It is very easy to have a well-balanced diet with vegetarian foods. Vegetarian foods provide plenty of protein. Any normal variety of plant foods provides more than enough protein for the body’s needs. A vegetarian menu is life-extending.

Although, there is less protein in a vegetarian diet than a meat-eater’s diet, this is actually an advantage. Excess protein has been linked to kidney stones, osteoporosis, and possibly heart disease and some cancers. A diet focused on beans, whole grains and vegetables contains adequate amounts of protein without the ‘overdose’ most meat-eaters get.”

  • Calcium is easy to find in a vegetarian diet. Many dark, green leafy vegetables and beans are loaded with calcium, and some orange juices and cereals are calcium-fortified.
  • Iron is plentiful in whole grains, beans and fruits.
  • Folate is abundant in spinach, broccoli, legumes, orange juice, walnuts, and asparagus.
  • B6 is plentiful in whole grains, soy foods, peanuts, walnuts, bananas, and avocados.
  • Fortified cereals, grains, orange juice, and soy- or rice milk are healthful foods that provide Vitamin D.
  • Vegetables are packed with nutrients; they provide vitamin C, beta-carotene, riboflavin and other vitamins, iron, calcium and fiber. Dark green, leafy vegetables such as broccoli, collards, kale, mustard and turnip greens, chicory or bok choy are especially good sources of these important nutrients. Dark yellow and orange vegetables such as carrots, winter squash, sweet potatoes and pumpkin provide extra beta-carotene.
  • Legumes, which are another name for beans, peas and lentils, are all good sources of fiber, protein, iron, calcium, zinc and B vitamins. This group also includes chickpeas, baked and refried beans, soy milk, tofu, tempeh and texturized vegetable protein.
  • Citrus fruits, melons and strawberries are rich in fiber, vitamin C and beta-carotene.

Myth # 5: Meat is essential to build muscles, become strong, and do body building.

Stay Healthy-Go Veg

Answer: It is just in our mind, in our psyche, but nothing like that. Some people say you must eat fish and meat for protein but if you have the proper balance of protein you are fine without it.

Horses have so much power, they have so much protein and they are vegetarian. Elephants are vegetarian. What power elephants have! You can’t even imagine. Bulls are vegetarian.

We say horse power. Power is always measured by horse. Horses just eat grass and green grams.

If the world did not purchase and consume meat, there would be none to slaughter and offer meat for sale. Are you STILL THINKING?

    About your teeth analysis: We have canine teeth to tear, just like monkeys, dogs etc. In addition, we have teeth to chew like cows and monkeys. My point is, we have developed ourselves for both kind of food.

    About HCL: That might be because we have developed ourselves for both kind of food (like monkeys). In some part of world non-veg as regular diet might be lifestyle change, does not mean that we are not built for non-veg at all. If we were, all non-vegetarians would have been unhealthy and all vegetarians will be healthy. You are giving health issues of non-vegetarians but no information of vegetarians (another usual case of half cooked truth trying to build up a case, cooked truth as you are trying to relate all the health problems to non-veg, while it could be unbalanced diet, smoking, environment etc)

    Lapping up: Did you know that monkeys eat flesh as well as cows had been fed meat for long in west and they are happily chewing on to it. It would be more appropriate to attribute lapping or most other habits of any species to their development rather than building up case for vegetarian.

    Eating vegetarian is better than non-vegetarian nonetheless.

    The good thing with non vegetarians is that they consume both plant foods as well as meat thus it is easier for them to attain a balanced diet than those who cannot eat meat. Vegetarian or non-vegetarian, the decision depends on various factors such as cultural or dietary habits of the family, personal preference, taste and avoidance of certain foods for health reasons. Whatever the case, a well-balanced diet supplying proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals should be taken. Non vegetarians need not worry about Vitamin B12, Iron and Zinc so on, but one should be always careful about qty, anything more is bad for good health.

    In a biblical point of view, God created man and gave them dominion over all animals. He did bless the animals for human consumption and hence eating meat should not be considered as sin. The Quran also allows its followers to have meat as part of their food.

    Few Asian religious groups that do not eat meat believe that when a person dies, they reincarnate in form of an animal. This makes them believe that eating meat would mean eating their ancestors or those who have just died.

    Only being vegetarian is not healthy,, butter oil sugar thise all in vegetarian, ,, sugar patients in india too much so we need to stop sugar ??I knowlot of vegetarian they are obesity patient.Bcz they eat lot of oily foods,,, and nowdays in india every vegetable in high pesticides whic is cause of canser that is why lot of canser patient in india, bcoz indian villagers use high pesticides in vegetable and also include fruits,, so will u plzz tell me what vegeable or fruits we eating if we want become vegetarian? ??

      Hi Sameer,
      You are correct that pesticides have been used in growing crops then should we eat them or not? To this, I would say that pollutants are there in environment as well but we are still breathing that air. I am not justifying here. Therefore, we should make efforts to (1) wash vegetables and fruits before eating / cooking, and, if possible, (2) switch slowly and gradually to organic foods.

      Regarding excess sugary food – I would like to recall the old saying here that says,”too much of anything is not good”.

      I believe that people are becoming more health and diet conscious than before and this is a good sign.

    nice article sir , another major think is every food have soul and memory ,whether its non veg or non veg , actually whatever we eat that turned to become us , so we should be conscious when we are eating and non veg food have sophisticated memory structure so the digestion process takes much time but the veg food have very simple memory so it can be easily digested.

    good information sir. keep it up. one need not link it to any religeon. this is logical fact that humans dont need animal flesh to be healthy. we do it only for the sake of taste. but by eating nonveg you loose the enjoyment in having a delicious veg foods. so enjoy veg food and be healthy.
